Jungle Vegan Cooking Experience

"Now everyone can cook."

Location: Sahainan Permaculture Organic Farm, Thung Chang, Nan, Thailand

Stay with us in a permaculture organic farm and experience simple living in natural buildings. Learn how to start a fire, use fire wood to cook meals, make your own bamboo spoon, bamboo chopsticks and bamboo straws. Eat from coconut bowls with our international volunteers and local Thais. In fact, bamboo sticky rice, steam cake and bread are Sahainan signature which are very often requested by our volunteers and students. We use stainless steel utensil, we don't use aluminum utensils. We are ready to share with you more than six recipes. Are you ready?

What will you do in two days:

~Authentic Bamboo sticky rice (Thai local delicacy) 

~Steamed Banana cake (vegan, sugar free, gluten free, harvest organic banana in our farm) 

~Steamed Sesame bread 

~Coconut oil and Coconut milk (starting from scratch, open the coconut)

~raw cashew nut roasting (roast and peel cashew nut from scratch, organic cashew nut harvested from our farm) 

~Harvest banana (organic banana from Sahainan)

~Farm meals (optional, join our kitchen chef to learn more on cooking)

~make bamboo spoons, chopsticks, straw, and coconut bowls

Schedule:

First day 

Arrival day (Enjoy normal farm routine if you come earlier)

Second day

8am breakfast

9am Prepare bread dough, make your own bamboo spoon, chopsticks, straw

10am banana harvesting

11am cake and bread

12pm lunch and ciesta

2.30pm class on coconut oil

3pm coconut milk and coconut oil making

4pm organic raw cashew nut roasting

5pm bamboo sticky rice

6pm dinner, sitting around fire, and rest

Third day morning 

6am Departure, or stay as normal volunteer, or practice cooking in our kitchen with our Chef

Energy exchange: 1900 Baht per person. Also Including meals, accommodation for two nights, round trip transportation from Thung Chang to our Farm. To sign up for our course, please email us your full name, home address, and why you want to attend the course. Also, to safe your space in the course, please pay your registration fee (1000B) through bank transfer and then inform us. If we receive less than 1000B deposit due to the transaction charging fee, you can pay this charging fee together with the rest of the course fee. The bank account information are as follow:

If Sahainan Permaculture Organic Farm have to cancel the course, the paid deposit of 1000 Bath will be fully refunded. In case a participant cancels his or her participation in the course, the deposit of 1000 Bath can not be refunded.
